I've wanted to start a blog for some time but was stuck at the very beginning. What to write!? It's easy to get caught up in trying to be original or funny, touching or informative. Should I document fashion trends? Post various photos? Satirize U.S. politics? My search continued until recently...the first Tuesday. A close someone and I found ourselves with a completely free day. We'd planned coffee with computers, a trip to the mall, a meal here and there, a Monty Python movie, and some hot toddies. We're fun as hell! Anyway...from this day, Tuesdays with Jonny arose.

Enjoy!

5/3/11- A day to organize

Ain't no rest for the travel tired!  If you've be following you know that last week's post was a tad delayed due to a 3 day trip with the girl up the eastern seaboard in a packed Budget truck.  On Thursday morning we unloaded all our crap in Mom's garage and today we were charged with the task of organizing it.  Needless to say, I'm writing this with a trusty glass of Three Blind Moose Merlot at my side.  It was the cheapest bottle with the coolest label.  Pause for a sip...and away we go!!

Text #1:  "Most of Tuesday has been spent playing conductor and constructor."
Sounds a bit like my day Erin, though I was helping to coordinate a motorcycle, a couple bikes, a large table and quite a few boxes holding all my stuff.

Text #2:  "I have been sick since Thursday...it is now tues...I don't think these antibiotics are working."

Luann, generally this is the view after you've finished the bottle's contents.

Text #3:  "Delic Tuesday!"

Daaaaaaamn, that looks good!  A little birdie told me that Monica's idea of sushi is usually rolled up steak, so I'd say this is progress!

Text #4: "Have a few hours to kill before dinner plans...Mets and beer??  Yes, please."

Make that Rays and beer Kelly, and I'm there.  Ah hell, just make it beer.  Who am I fooling?

Text #5:  "My new pal!"

I witnessed the whole thing from the safety of my car.  Jess hopped out, ran across two lanes of traffic and decided to make friends.  At first the cows were unsure, then this one started a four cow pilgrimage.  Oh, Connecticut!

Text #6:  "Sure is quiet..."

Boy, do those Zieglers know how to lay on a guilt trip.  Last week it was the other daughter taunting me with her adorable child and now it's Leslie's backyard oasis.  Damn it people!  It's 40 degrees and cloudy in CT!!  What's a fella to do?

Text # 7:  "Tuesday with the real Jonny!"

Faithie's picture better captures my Tuesday.  Notice how Jess covers her eyes in anticipation of what ridiculousness is flying out of my mouth!

Text # 8:  "My Tuesday: some FUCK pulled the emergency break on the train."

Please forgive Erik's potty mouth.  We don't generally celebrate obscenities here at Tuesdays, but if you've ever experienced the pulling of an emergency break on a NYC subway I'd imagine you'd say the same.  Erik probably sat for the next two hours in a train car that smelled of exhaust, french fries, and feet.

Text #9:  "Paul Simon at First Avenue.  Concert sold out in a minute!"

Heidi, people in Minnesota still flock to see Paul Simon?  Was the Vanilla Ice concert sold out too?

Final Thoughts

This week was hard work.  None of it could have been accomplished without generosity, support, elbow grease, deep breaths, and a boat load of laughs.  It's never easy to step out of the box, so when you do why not take a flying leap?  I guarantee, no matter what, you'll never fall too hard.  We all need backup. We all need a friendly face.  We all need a safe spot to curl up.  I've been overwhelmed by kindness.  I'm touched by people coming together to support each other.  I'm humbled by the assistance I've been given along the way.

As I sit here, listening to the Avett Brothers, I'm witnessing a DIY project of the best intentions unfold in my mom's kitchen.  Why?  Because that's just how we roll.  Join us!  There's always room for more!

Till next time...

Jonny

I just love your final thoughts. It's so nice that you are there to witness your mom's kitchen project. How wonderful for her to have her little boy home. I know how happy her heart feels. (even if my place is a little quiet, it's okay. it's nice to share)
