I've wanted to start a blog for some time but was stuck at the very beginning. What to write!? It's easy to get caught up in trying to be original or funny, touching or informative. Should I document fashion trends? Post various photos? Satirize U.S. politics? My search continued until recently...the first Tuesday. A close someone and I found ourselves with a completely free day. We'd planned coffee with computers, a trip to the mall, a meal here and there, a Monty Python movie, and some hot toddies. We're fun as hell! Anyway...from this day, Tuesdays with Jonny arose.

Enjoy!

12/21-Tuesday Numero Dos

If you guessed that this is me catching a snooze in my swanky, all white living room (complete with price tags), cuddling a heart-shaped pillow with arms cuddling me right back...you're wrong!  But, if you said "Jonny, did you get all tuckered out in IKEA while braving droves of crazed holiday shoppers on a selfless quest to bring holiday joy to others?",  you're dead on!  Throughout my visit, the IKEA p.a. system repeatedly broadcasted about Swedish meals and treats to lure me to their muli-cultural cafe.  I thought "perhaps they'll have a cupcake to tide me over".  But upon inspecting I only discovered disappointment.  There were odd desserts and meatballs galore, but not a cupcake to be found.  Are there no cupcakes in Sweden?  Are the meatball companies greasing IKEA's collective palm in order to keep the cupcakes out?  These are the things that keep me up at night...so, I took a nap!

Text #1: (no caption)

I'm brimming with pride right now.  I'd like you all to give my mom a round of applause.  Until today I had no idea she knew how to send a picture text!  I can only imagine that this enticing photo is of Harley the cat mindfully guarding my invisible presents...  Anyway Mom, the tree looks great, the cat looks healthy, and I'll be home for Christmas in two days!

Text #2: "Only in Minnesota"

Heidi, where's your hat and gloves?  You look like the coldest ever rendition of Billy Joel's "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant".  I do admire your commitment to the vino whilst posing with a 7 foot wall of snow peering over your shoulder.  AND... you white is already chilled!

Text #3: "Might send a better pic later...But after a day of shopping and Gambling in Saratoga, puppy love by the Christmas decorations is all the rage."

Well folks, Kelly got it right.  What better to do after successfully pioneering the mall and betting on the ponies than cuddling the family dog (whose name I imagine to be...Spot).  From the picture it's hard to tell which end she's cuddling but they both look to be thriving in the Christmas spirit, in a living room far cozier than that where my nap took place.

Text #4: "Gourmet dinner options in Charlotte's airport."

Holiday travelers, here's a sneak peek of what to expect should you choose air as your method of transport.  Rachel sent this picture of the second leg of her trip back from Vegas to Tampa.  As you can see the Charlotte airport has shined the floor and fashioned a tree out of white and red pointsettias.  How lovely!  Nothing says Christmas like the glow of a Chilis Too, eagerly awaiting your craving for sizzling fajitas or baby back, baby back, baby back ribs.  Chilis offer 2-for-1 drinks all day, everyday so you can drown your layover sorrows and flight delay woes!

Text #5: Title: Chase Bank, not some guy. "This sign says "I hate Chase" because that was a big fn chunk of my Tuesday"

This is my friend Addie.   Here she sits in her Upper East Side Apartment, ruing the day she ever met Chase (see clarification in title).  Addie chose not to document her experience in real time, rather to lament her trying day with a homemade sign and angry eyes.  In fact, the more I look at this picture the more it resembles a ransom situation.  Addie!  It's not worth it!  They may give you hell but they also give you free checking!

Text #6: "Office day.  My soul is half-wilted, like this plant.

This is the knee and foot of my ailing friend G.  While all of the earlier post-ees were eating, drinking, napping or plotting the demise of Chase Bank, G was stuck at the office.  Let's bow our heads for a wilted soul and a fakakta ficus.  Better luck next Tuesday old friend!

Text 7: "True Delirium.  Took a picture of the QR code.  Who needs a barcode scanner"

Truthfully, I'm not quite sure what this is all about, so I Wikipedia'd it.  QR stands for quick response and is the most popular of two dimensional barcodes.  Even after parroting back the wiki-definition I'm still confused,  but my friend Jess saw it fit to send...and it made the post!  I'd like to imagine that she has encoded a map to treasure or secret missile coordinates...but it's holiday shopping crunch time and it may just be a tracking code for tacky Christmas sweater.  I just don't know!

Final Thoughts

What a great Tuesday!   If you're a new visitor, welcome. If you're stopping in again, welcome back.  This thing is going viral!  We went from 4 pics last week to 8 this week.  I'd like to thank all my contributors.  Your texts and pictures make for great stories!

Today had smiles, travel, much needed rests, tracking, ransom, holidays, and good old fashioned hard work.  Not every day needs to be jam packed with tantalizing adventures.  Sometimes it's nice to simply stop for a moment and realize that you're right where you should be.  And if you're not...change it up!  Aim high but enjoy where you're at.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Till Next Time...

Jonathan
